Hi, I’m Nicola

I’m a physicist who moved into quantitative consulting. Until September 2026 I was a postdoc at INFN Bologna, working on detector R&D for the ePIC experiment at the future Electron-Ion Collider — writing the C++ that turns raw silicon photomultiplier signals into physics measurements, and being on the floor during beam tests making sure the hardware did what it was supposed to.

I came up through ALICE at CERN during my PhD, and most of how I think about data, uncertainties, and detectors was shaped there. At INFN I led the analysis framework for the dRICH Cherenkov prototype — from raw SiPM data all the way through to the numbers presented to the collaboration — and was the analysis coordinator for its beam-test campaigns at CERN, having also helped commission the hardware itself. From 2025 to 2026 I also chaired the EIC User Group’s Elections & Nominations Committee.

Since September 2026 I’m a Senior Consultant in Credit Risk at Prometeia, in Bologna — same statistical modelling and simulation toolkit, new domain.

Outside work I tutored physics — high school through university — for over a decade, and I’m involved with a few civic organisations in Bologna. I hold a PhD in Particle Physics from the University of Bologna (2024), an MSc cum laude in Physics, and I have both Italian and French citizenship.
